North Texas Hot Sauce Festival

I went to the North Texas Hot Sauce Festival in October with my friend Morgan and we had a good conversation about how hot sauce helps him eat more slowly and mindfully. I want to do more of that as well.

I also appreciated that the majority of the vendors grew and made their own produce and ingredients. One pirate-themed brand from Galveston said it pretty astutely: he heard Mike’s Hot Honey was made in New York and had to do something. He also collected wooden tasting spoons to compost for the garden.

I want to support local food producers more and grow more of my own food and compost more. That’s been in my radar already but I want to get back into it. I’m organizing my gardening supplies and someone from a mutual aid friend group is going to send me some Cayenne pepper seeds after this growing season.

I also liked that some of the goods I got are in reusable packaging, like glass jars and bottles. That’s especially important to me as I work to reduce plastic use in my life.

  1. I think that’s great idea. People need and love fresh vegetables and fruits. There are food gardens around Here in Memphis

    1. I would love to find some of those here in north Texas.
